Dr. P. Deepalakshmi's educational journey began with a B.Sc. in Mathematics from A.K.D. Dharmaraja Arts and Science College for Women, affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University, in 1998, where she graduated with a first-class distinction and an aggregate of 90%. She further pursued an MCA at the Computer Center of Madurai Kamaraj University and graduated with first class in May 2001. She continued her academic pursuits by obtaining an ME in Computer Science and Engineering from Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (under Anna University) in May 2005, finishing with first class and distinction. Her academic journey culminated with a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Kalasalingam University in August 2013.
Starting her professional career in the industry, Dr. Deepalakshmi worked at Patni Computer Systems in Mumbai as a Project Assistant and Software Engineer between January and October 2001. She transitioned to academia as a Lecturer at Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering from December 2004 to June 2007. She then served as an Assistant Professor at Kalasalingam University until August 2014, eventually rising to the position of Associate Professor and Head of the CSE Department by June 2017. Her distinguished career in academics continued as she became a Professor and Dean at the School of Computing at Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) from July 2017, eventually taking on leadership roles as Director of Accreditation and Ranking at KARE starting June 2024.
Dr. Deepalakshmi's extensive academic and professional contributions include obtaining certifications such as Elite with Gold in NPTEL for Python programming, mentoring several courses, and holding memberships in professional organizations such as ACM, IEEE, ISTE, and CSI. Involved in numerous service activities, she has been a president of the Madurai ACM Professional Chapter and a mentor for student chapters, among other roles. Her work includes leadership in offering specialized academic programs, organizing over 250 co-curricular activities, obtaining multiple accreditations, and contributing to numerous research projects, patents, and scholarly publications. Her expertise and contributions are reflected in her extensive list of lectures, professional development activities, and ongoing supervision of Ph.D. scholars.
